Flat Walls, Deep Views: Mandy Kendall Brings Stereo Photography to Confluence

June 11- July 27, 2026

From June 11 through July 27, 2026, we are thrilled to welcome Pittsburgh artist Mandy Kendall and her show of Stereo Photography. And we do mean photography you can step inside. This is work in three real dimensions, depth that leaps right off the wall, and yes, we will hand you a pair of 3D glasses at the door so you can see every bit of it.

Mandy says it beautifully, so we will let her take it from here:

” Pittsburgh-based artist Mandy Kendall invites you to step inside the frame with her large-scale stereoscopic photography that brings the Pennsylvania landscape to life in vivid three dimensions. A photographer and educator for over 20 years, Kendall specializes in historical and experimental processes that blend history, science, and art. The show combines two compelling bodies of work: Natural Immersion, which celebrates Pennsylvania’s natural landscapes, and Through the Ruins: Discovering the Depths of Kinzua, a series exploring the collapse and rebirth of the historic Kinzua Bridge. Inspired by 19th-century stereoviews, these modern anaglyphs bring both fractured steel and the natural landscape alive in stereo depth, inviting viewers to step directly into the industrial history and rugged beauty of Pennsylvania.”

There is something wonderfully old and new happening here at once. Stereoscopic images go all the way back to the parlors of the 1800s, when families would gather around a viewer and marvel at faraway places rendered in startling depth. Mandy takes that same century-old idea and points it right at our own backyard. In Natural Immersion, the forests and waterways of Pennsylvania feel close enough to touch. In Through the Ruins, the twisted steel of the Kinzua Bridge, felled by a tornado in 2003 and later reborn as a sky walk, becomes something you can nearly step into.

A few things worth knowing before you come:

  • The show runs June 11 through July 27, 2026.
  • 3D glasses are provided, so all you have to do is show up.
  • As always, the gallery is free to wander, and the espresso is right where you left it.
  • You can see more of Mandy’s work at mkendallphotography.com.

This summer show follows a busy spring here at Tissue Farm, and it is part of the rotating lineup of artists we love bringing to Confluence all year long. If you have not stopped in lately, consider this your invitation.
